    Matriculated from Oriel College, Oxford in 15th February 1733; BA 1736, MA 1739; ordained deacon 1741; priest 1748; B.D. 1755, D.D. 1759.

    Described "a man of much wit and miscellaneous learning and absolutely no personal ambition".

    D.D. Fellow of All Souls College. Keeper of the University Archives; editor of the “Stemmata Chicheleiana”. Monument in parish church (south transept). Held lease of New Cumnor Place; portrait in All Souls; his will 1780 (PCC: 1781 Jan:4). Left lease of farm in High St. to his 'servant' John WILLIS.

    In 1774 Dr. Benjamin Buckler, a former vicar, bequeathed £100, the interest to be laid out in Bibles and Common Prayer Books for distribution to the poor. There have been considerable accumulations from time to time, and the endowment now consists of £373 10s. 11d. consols, producing £9 6s. 8d. yearly. The vicar supplies all the children with Bibles, church services, hymn books and psalters, besides providing many similar books which are kept in the church.
