Birth:   c1782
  •   Baptism: 27th October 1782 GODFREY Elizabeth
  • Marriage:
  • Marriage: Marriage: 15th July 1799 in Cumnor, LEAVER William bach. GODFREY Elizabeth sp., minor, consent of mother Lic. Wits: James KING, William CAPEL,
  • Death:   19th October 1846
  •   Deaths Dec 1846 Leaver Elizabeth Abingdon 6 123. Died in Cumnor.
  • Age at Death:   64 YEARS
Buried:   23rd October 1846 Cause of Death: SPASMS OF THE HEART
    Abode: BRIGHTWELL.
    Relationship:
  • DAUGHTER OF HENRY & ELIZABETH GODFREY.
  • WIFE OF WILLIAM LEAVER.
  • MOTHER OF 6 of which 2 died young: William 1813-16th March 1827, James 1818, Henry 1822 & 3 others.
  • OFHS have no death matching the year & name. However they do have a death of "1846 23 Oct Leach Elizabeth Cumnor 64 yrs" transcribed from the burial index not the grave. I suspect LEACH should be LEAVER. The year, age, first name match and the burial is 4 days after the death which from transcribing the whole graveyard is the average time to burial.
Bodley.ox.ac.uk suggest she died in Cumnor "m.Elizabeth GODFREY b.1783 Cum.- d.1846 Cum." also matching the record. They then contradict and have "note Elizabeth 1783-1856 Brightwell." I think in the latter they are confused with Elizabeth daughter of James & Mary (1780-17.3.1856) which matches an OFHS burial. They have record #289, which matches name/age but year 1746; although their accuracy from the survey at times is left wanting (names, dates, ages); and out of all graves taken in 2019 very few 17xx are readable.
